Isabelle è una donna caparbia e ricolma di vita che ha lavorato tenacemente per anni, svolgendo ogni sorta di occupazione per mantenersi agli studi, al fine di conseguire ottime credenziali per diventare una dirigente di successo.
Poi un bel giorno il suo sogno si avvera, ottiene un posto come assistente personale di Damian Moore, noto magnate di un’industria delle comunicazioni, presidente della Karma Communication, ma si rende ben presto conto di quanto sia ardua questa impresa. Il suo capo, reduce dal matrimonio con una donna che lo ha ferito ed ingannato, è una persona introversa e cupa, intrattabile e burbera, in special modo con lei, poiché convinto che sia entrata di forza nella sua azienda dispensando favori sessuali allo stesso sindaco della città di New York.
Il romanzo si svolge nel cuore di Manhattan, intorno a queste due forti personalità che si cercano e si allontanano in un continuo gioco di sguardi e di sottintesi, di sottili messaggi che non lasciano spazio alle parole, assiduamente eluse, ritenute da Damian un elemento fin troppo sopravvalutato per conoscere e conoscersi, per esibire se stessi e ciò che si vuole.
E intorno a loro, contemporaneamente, si evolvono situazioni pericolose, trame, intrighi, vicende troppo a lungo tenute nascoste, che inevitabilmente li condurranno a vivere un finale drammatico, un pericolo scampato, una felicità ritrovata.

Isabelle is a stubborn and lively woman that has tenaciously worked for years, doing every sort of jobs to keep her studies in order, with the purpose to achieve excellent credentials to become a successful manager. Then, one beautiful day her dream comes true, she gets a position as personal assistant of Damian Moore, known magnate of an industry of the communications, president of the Karma Communication, but very soon she realizes than this enterprise is arduous.
Her boss, veteran of a marriage with a woman that wounded and cheated him, is an introverted and gloomy, unmanageable and gruff person, especially with her, since he believes that her entry in his company have been obtained by dispensing sexual favors at the mayor of New York City.
The novel takes place in the heart of Manhattan, around these two strong personalities that are searched and that are distanced in a continuous game of looks and hints, of subtle messages that don’t leave space to the words, assiduously eluded, considered by Damian an element too much overvalued to knowing and to know him, to show oneself and what one wants.
And around them, simultaneously, dangerous situations are evolved, plots, intrigues, stories kept hidden too for a long time, which will inevitably lead them to live a dramatic end, an escaped danger, a newfound happiness.

Isabelle est une femme obstinée et bourrée de vitalité qui a travaillé tenacement pendant des années, déroulant toute sorte d’occupation pour étudier, afin d’acquérir excellentes références pour devenir un dirigeant de succès.
Puis un beau jour son rêve se réalise, elle obtient un emploi comme assistante personnelle de Damian Moore, renommé magnat d’une industrie des communications, président de la Karma Communication, mais elle se rend bien vite compte de combien soit ardue cette entreprise.
Son chef, rescapé du mariage avec une femme qui l’a blessé et dupé, est une personne introvertie et sombre, intraitable et bourrue, particulièrement avec Isabelle, puisque convaincu qu’elle soit entrée de force dans son entreprise dispensant faveurs sexuelles au même maire de la cité de New York.
Le roman se déroule dans le cœur de Manhattan, autour de ces deux fortes personnalités qui se cherchent et s’éloignent en un incessant jeu de regards et sous-entendus, de subtils messages qui ne laissent pas espace aux mots, assidûment éludés, retenus par Damian un élément bien trop surestimé pour connaître et se connaître, pour exhiber soi-même et ce qu’on veut.
Et autour d’eux, entre-temps, situations dangereuses s’évoluent, trames, intrigues, vicissitudes depuis trop longtemps celées, qu’inévitablement les conduiront à vivre un final dramatique, un danger échappé, un bonheur retrouvé.
